C. D. Clarke uses the
highest quality art materials. His oil paintings are made on the finest
gessoed linen mounted with acid free glue on coated ¼ inch plywood
panels. Panels are much safer than stretched canvas for field work. Oil
paintings made in the field are small, about 9 by 12 inches. Watercolors
made in the field are made on the finest 14 by 20 inch Arches watercolor
paper.
When
working in the studio, C. D. uses traditionally stretched canvas. Studio
works are larger, ranging in size from 9 by 12 inches to 36 by 40 inches
and up. Studio watercolors can be larger as well, up to 28 by 40 inches.
C.
D. ’s paintings are custom framed using archival materials and
procedures. Subtle variations in the mat colors and frame styles are
carefully selected for each painting. The mats are acid free, and usually
linen covered. The frames are hand gessoed and leafed, and only
ultraviolet-filtering conservation glass is ever used on the watercolors.
Prints of C. D. 's original paintings
are available in very limited editions of 200, all carefully reproduced on
very high quality paper. Watercolor paintings are printed on the same
Arches watercolor paper that the originals are painted on. Oil paintings
are reproduced on smooth paper to accurately capture the original's vivid
colors. Most of the prints have an image size of 13 by 20 inches.
C. D. 's originals and prints are
avidly collected by noted sportsmen all over the world including ESPN's
Flip Pallot; TV host Andy Mill; Orvis Company owner Leigh Perkins;
businessman, author and philanthropist Bob Rich; super guides Paul Dixon,
Brian Horsely and Tim Klein; and many, many others.
